Sharing the Greatest News

This morning, after spending some time in prayer, I found myself thinking about Sunday’s sermon.

The message was about sharing the gospel, and it stayed with me as I stepped out onto the porch before the sun came up.

There’s something special about those quiet mornings.

No traffic. No phones ringing. Just a peaceful stillness that reminds me how much I need time alone with the Lord.

As I walked back into the house, one question kept running through my mind.

“How can someone explain the gospel in a simple, meaningful way that is easy to remember and easy to share?”

That question followed me into my study.
I opened my Bible and began reading through a few familiar passages.

I wasn’t trying to create something clever.

I simply wanted a way that a new believer, an older believer, or even a child could remember the heart of the gospel when someone asked,
“What is the gospel?”

As I read, the answer seemed to come together.
Not as an acronym first…
But as a sentence.

God gave His only begotten Son to die for our sins and rise again, so that people who believe in Him may have everlasting life.

Then I noticed something I hadn’t been looking for.
The first letter of each key word spelled…

GOSPEL.
G — God gave His
O — Only begotten
S — Son to die for our sins and rise again, so that
P — People who believe in Him may have
E — Everlasting
L — Life.

I smiled.

Not because I thought I had discovered something new, but because I believe the Lord had answered the question I asked just a few minutes earlier.
Will this explain every beautiful truth found in the gospel?
Of course not.

The gospel is deeper than any outline or memory tool could ever capture.
But if this simple sentence helps one believer confidently share Christ with a friend… if it helps one parent teach the gospel to their child… or if it helps one person understand the Good News for the very first time…
Then, it was worth asking the question.
Sometimes, the Lord answers our prayers in remarkable ways.
And sometimes…

He answers them on a quiet morning, with an open Bible, in a little study just off the porch.
