It’s another rainy morning.
My alarm had already come and gone, but neither my wife nor I had to work today. Instead of jumping out of bed like usual, we just lay there holding each other.
The rain tapped gently on the tin roof, and for a little while, the world could wait.
As I lay there, I smiled, knowing the Lord understands moments like these.
After all, He created marriage.
He is the One who said, “It is not good that the man should be alone. He is the One who commands husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church. (Ephesians 5:25).
Sometimes loving your wife isn’t found in grand gestures.
Sometimes, it’s found in simply being present.
Holding her hand.
Wrapping your arms around her.
Listening.
Laughing.
Enjoying the quiet moments that so often pass by unnoticed.
Men, if you have the opportunity to simply hold your wife for a few extra minutes, don’t rush past it.
Cherish those moments.
Store them in your heart.
Life isn’t promised beyond today. None of us knows how many mornings we’ll have together.
Don’t take those quiet moments for granted.
The rain will stop.
The dishes will still be there.
The chores will wait.
But today’s embrace is a gift that can never be relived once it’s has passed.
As I finally made my way to the porch to spend time with the Lord, I thanked Him not only for another rainy morning…
…but for the precious gift of a wife to love.
Sometimes, the most ordinary moments become the ones we treasure most.
Until the rain falls again…
Grace and peace,
A Porch Believer
